Community Projects

An ongoing service-learning project crafting and implementing new social media outreach strategies. The Boy Scouts of America Sagamore Council serves approximately 2,000 children across 14 counties in Northern Indiana.

Semester- to year-long project to develop an invasive plant management plan for a WREC-owned parcel of land and implement the plan via habitat improvements. Other opportunities include converting areas of turf grass to pocket prairies/savannas. Project timeline dependent on weather conditions, size of land parcel, and invasive species managed. Long-term partnerships also possible. Upper-level undergraduates are eligible for this project.

An ongoing service-learning project in partnership with the Farm at Prophetstown to enhance the user-friendliness and interactivity of educational signage within their museums. The Farm at Prophetstown provides visitors with a distinctive glimpse into 1920s farm life.

The Salvation Army of Lafayette is looking for proposals for their website redesign project. The Salvation Army delivers programming for families and older adults centered around hunger, poverty, and rehabilitation.

Semester-long project delivering lessons on financial literacy, workforce development, and entrepreneurship to local K-12 classrooms. Undergraduates (any level) and graduate students are eligible for this project.

An ongoing service-learning project seeking to enhance the visibility of the Salvation Army of Lafayette’s “Pathways of Hope” program via promotional materials and social media outreach. The program offers support to families experiencing poverty in the local community.

The West Lafayette Parks and Recreation Foundation works to protect our valuable parks and recreation resources, develop park spaces, and preserve future greenspaces as the community grows.
